Scalp micropigmentation, or a scalp tattoo, is a hair loss treatment that can make your hair appear fuller. It can also be used to conceal scars on the scalp. If you have a scar on your scalp, whether from a previous hair loss treatment or an accident, our artists can camouflage it using scalp micropigmentation.

How Does Scalp Micropigmentation Conceal Scars?

Scalp micropigmentation is a hair loss treatment that involves depositing small amounts of pigment into the scalp to replicate the appearance of hair follicles. Our artists can seamlessly conceal scars on your scalp using pigment and blending techniques. Micropigmentation is an effective option for scar camouflage, with many clients seeing a 75-85% improvement in scar appearance after treatment.

What Types of Scars Can Be Concealed?

We have concealed many types of scars, including scars caused by other hair loss treatments like follicular unit transplants (FUT), follicular unit extractions (FUE), and hair plugs. If you have a medical condition like alopecia, Scalp Micro USA can use micropigmentation to cover the scarred bald patches where natural follicles have been damaged. We can also camouflage scars on the scalp caused by accidents or injuries. With micropigmentation, we create the illusion of hair growth over the scar tissue to effectively conceal the scar.

How Do Artists Determine Whether You’re a Good Candidate for Scar Concealment?

Our artists are experienced in scar concealment using scalp micropigmentation. They can determine your candidacy for the treatment during a free consultation. You can schedule an in-person or over-the-phone consultation with one of our artists. We use this consultation to discuss your hair goals and answer your questions about the treatment. Our artists may ask more detailed questions about your scars to help us determine whether you are a good candidate for a scalp tattoo. We can also use this time to show you examples of previous clients’ scar concealment results.

What Is the Scar Concealment Process?

Once we have verified that you are a good candidate for scalp micropigmentation, we can schedule your first appointment. Depending on the extent of your scarring, your artist may recommend 2-3 micropigmentation sessions. During each session, we will replicate the appearance of hair follicles within and around your scar. This helps blend the treated area in with your natural hair. The pigment we use can be diluted to match the color of your natural hair. One treatment session may last between 2-4 hours, depending on the size and severity of the scar. Scar-camouflaging treatments should be spaced out by at least 10 days to allow the skin to heal between appointments.
